Falconry is one of the most exciting elements of a Living Heritage Country Show, and will be a popular attraction at Sandringham Game and Country Fair. The programme is packed with excitement and wonder as these majestic birds perform their wide range of skills. Whether this be a Peregrine Hybrid Falcon, performing speeds of up to 150 mph, an Eagle, gliding from one end of the arena to the other, or even the Mexican Harris Hawks, also known as the comedians of the bird world it is all amazing to watch.
Have A Go Falconry
We are pleased to be introducing ‘Have A Go Falconry’ where your child can have a fifteen minute falconry session completely free. Learn how to hold and fly one of these amazing birds – guaranteed a highlight of the day!
At Sandringham Game and Country Fair there will also be around fifty individual birds of prey on display, so you can come and meet and photograph them as well as watching them fly. Feel free to ask any questions of our falconers. They are always very happy to talk about their birds and are some of the most experienced bird handlers in the UK so you are guaranteed a fascinating insight into the world of the bird of prey.
Falconry displays take place in the Falconry arena outside the marquee, on a regular basis throughout the day. There will also be some displays in the Countryside Arena, but check your programme! Also surprisingly in the dog arena, featuring the amazing ways in which gun dogs and birds of prey can work together.
