In our largest arena of Sandringham Game and Country Fair, the Andy Singleton Arena, we have space for some of our fastest, biggest and most exciting attractions.
Our horse boarders will be on their sixth heat of the 2017 championships. An exciting extreme sport, where a boarder is pulled at speeds of up to 29mph around a series of obstacles by a galloping horse. Sounds crazy? It may be – but it’s also incredibly skilful and great fun to watch. We have both Elite and Intermediate heats in the Andy Singleton Arena (Novice in the Countryside Arena) Expect thrills and spills and plenty of flying mud!
Shetland Racing Team (Saturday)
One definitely not to miss as you watch these fantastic little ponies hurtle round the steeplechase circuit with their young riders. Some hilarious between-race interviews reveal the jockeys’ strategies and you will want to scream for your favourites as they race past!
Scurry Trials and Driving
In their fifth heats of the British Championships; these teams of ponies with their skilled drivers work their way around an arena full of obstacles in the fastest possible time.
Parade of Hounds
The Burne Bloodhounds will be with us again with the Andy Singleton Arena allowing them the space to gallop with their horses and hounds in a spectacular demonstration. We will also be featuring the Oakley Foot Beagles and Westerby Bassets. You will have opportunity to hear about how a modern day hunt works, and what it’s like to be a ‘runner’ for the hunt, running miles through open countryside for the hounds to track your scent, and probably being licked all over once they delightedly find you! Come into the ring and meet the hounds or visit them in the World of Dogs area.
Machine Vs Beast
Also with a chosen scurry team; we pit the skill and dexterity of these little ponies against the might of a 4×4 Isuzu vehicle under the expert handler
of Jeremy – a test driver and racing driver. Horsepower v Pony power – who will you be cheering for?
Don’t forget to visit the Isuzu stand! Isuzu are one of the main sponsors of Living Heritage Country Shows.
The Shire Horse Society
An amazing demonstration with these fabulous gentle giants. This will include a rare appearance of the six horse shire team seen at the Lord Mayor’s Show in London. The Shire Horse Society will be available to visit in their own small display area afterward where we hope to also have a farrier, shire foal and possibly ‘Have A Go Grooming’ for the young and young at heart.
Watch our amazing birds of prey in action as our expert falconers demonstrate how they fly to the lure and give you a wealth of information about their habits, work and where so many familiar words of the English language come from! With Chris Neal, Ray Pickup, Andy Plant and Ben Long
